Its important to have a fundamental understanding of pitch (Hz) in using this tuning aid. A drum has a minimum and maximum pitch range and a sweet spot that accentuates the natural tone. You would want to determine the pitch for a given drum, determine the amount of sustain, and determine the interval relationship between the drums on your kit. There are different tuning guides online that can explain this in more detail. Its a small puzzle but it takes some reasoning to put it all together. This app isnt perfect. It will occasionally read several octaves too high and you have to reset the app or your phone. It may or may not play nice with other similar apps that utilize the microphone. Theres the occasional random crash. And there are issues when tuning snare resonant heads with lots of overtones. Its able to be programmed to specific pitch intervals though and once you are proficient with it its very easy to use. Once you read the instructions and separately research pitch, sustain and interval relationship, you will understand the science of modern drum tuning.
